It is a wonderful initiative where Starlight are encouraging Australians to go sugar free this November for its third annual Sugar Free Me challenge. And we are here to help - you won't even miss sugar with our range of our products in your pantry!
Kicking off on 1 November 2020, participants will join a community of thousands pledging to take a break from sugar for 30 days while raising funds to support Starlight’s vital hospital services and brightening the lives of over 10,000 sick kids around Australia.
It's up to you whether to take a break from a couple of sugary treats for 30 days or take it to the next level and replace natural sweeteners too - every bit counts.
Where in the past it may have been harder to get your sweet tooth fix and give up sugar at the same time, this year we make it easy. And like many others you might stay #responsiblysweet and might never go back to sugar. Yes, seriously.
Registrations are now open, with the challenge running for 30 days from 1-30 November 2020.
To help make a difference in the lives of sick kids, go to sugarfreeme.org.au, register to join the challenge and start fundraising.

Starlight CEO, Louise Baxter said: “Every minute of every day, a child is admitted to hospital in Australia. Now more than ever, hospitalised kids need fun and positive distraction to help them cope with the isolation and fear they are facing.”
“Every dollar makes a difference, and as little as $39 will give one child access to Starlight’s vital services - delivering happiness to sick kids when they need it most. What happens in childhood lasts a lifetime, and through the power of positive distraction, Starlight brings the happiness that is essential to the health and wellbeing of sick kids.”
Signing up as an individual or part of a group, Sugar Free Me participants will become part of a supportive online community and have exclusive access to delicious sugar free recipes, fundraising resources plus unlimited motivation and encouragement to sweeten the challenge.
As participants reach their fundraising milestones, they will go in the running to unlock amazing feel-good prizes. Plus, the highest fundraising individual and team will score kitchen gear and restaurant gift vouchers.
The challenge is also supported by Founder and CEO of The Positivity Institute and proud Starlight Ambassador, Dr Suzy Green.
“Scientific research tells us that we flourish when we experience PERMA-H – that is positive emotions, engagement, positive relationships, meaning, achievement and positive health. Positive Health is the foundation for a flourishing life, and we’re so excited by this upcoming challenge!” said Dr Suzy Green.
Since the first challenge in 2018, over 5,000 Sugar Free Me participants have come together to provide a brighter hospital experience for more than 14,000 sick kids and their families.
"The way Gus comes out of the Starlight Express Room when he's in hospital is amazing. Seeing my son smile like that makes my heart sing. The Captain Starlights do everything in their magical powers to bring sparkle to his day." Gus' mum, Lisa
