Your sugar-free ANZAC Day long weekend menu (yes, there are biscuits)
by Lakanto Australia

With ANZAC Day just around the corner, we thought we’d take the stress out of cooking with these tasty, family friendly, better-for-you recipes worthy of the lazy long weekend.

From ANZAC inspired tarts and bliss balls, portable picnic and BBQ treats to our famous ‘Wayyyy Lower in Sugar Than Usual ANZAC Biscuits’, we’ve got all the bases covered.

Basically dessert for breakfast: ANZAC Apple Plum Crumble

A warming, nourishing dish with an ANZAC biscuit-inspired crumble topping using Lakanto Golden Malt Syrup. Sub in a combo featuring any of your favourite autumn fruits: we love plums, apples, pears, berries or quinces.

Serve with Greek Yoghurt at breakfast time, and/or with cream after dinner. Versatile, non?

A better for you snack: ANZAC bliss balls

A better-for-you ANZAC treat inspired by everyone’s favourite biccy. Cashews, desiccated coconut and almond butter complement the humble oat and lend a natural sweetness, while also keeping you fuller for longer.

Something for everyone at your ANZAC BBQ: Hemp Beetroot Burgers

Throw these epic beetroot burgers on the barbie alongside the snags and watch even the biggest carnivores coming in for a taste. We’ve served these up in low-carb lettuce cups, but they’re just as good in a wholemeal roll with all your favourite burger accoutrements.

The portable picnic option: Quiche Lorraine

Prepare this classic quiche ahead of any ANZAC Day picnic or long weekend celebration to take the fuss out of prep. Sub in spinach or zucchini for the bacon if you’ve got a vegetarian in your midst.

Cocktail hour: Jalapeno Margarita

Spicy, salty, sour, sweet – it’s everything a good Margarita should be! The sweetness comes from our Lakanto Maple Flavoured Syrup, meaning you won’t be left with a sugar crash after indulging in one or two.

We’ve given you the virgin option here, to which grown-ups drinking responsibly can add a dash of tequila.

Actual dessert: The ultimate ANZAC tart

The showstopper ooey-gooey dessert to enjoy come ANZAC day.

Our favourite part is slicing it up and watching that homemade condensed milk filling ooze out. Enjoy knowing that since it is made with Lakanto, it’s responsibly sweet!

We promised there would be biscuits: Wayyyy Lower in Sugar Than Usual ANZAC Biscuits

It just wouldn’t be ANZAC day without a plate of ANZAC biccies, now would it? We’ve recreated the classic oaty recipe using Lakanto Protein Pancake Mix and Lakanto Golden Malt Syrup, meaning each biscuit comes in at about 0.4g sugar.

Oats are also a wonderful source of fibre, making these a better-for-you biscuit the whole family can enjoy!
